Continuing his education, he currently pursues a Bachelor of Technical and Professional Studies at Towson University.

Providing clinical and educational guidance to respiratory care students, he worked as an Adjunct Instructor at Frederick Community College for five years, where he was also a member of the Respiratory Care Advisory Board. In 2017, Daniel became the Clinical Instructor at Baltimore City Community College. He maintains this position today and also serves as the program committee advisor.

As an ECMO Specialist at the University of Maryland Medical Center Cardiopulmonary Service and Howard University since 2010, Daniel gives ancillary support services to patients undergoing or having received a heart/lung transplant and provides education on the Extracorporeal circuit.

Presently, Daniel serves as the Chief of Respiratory Therapy Services in the Department of Veterans Affairs in the Maryland Healthcare System (MHS).  Working at three MHS locations, he coordinates respiratory services for all ICU and general floor respiratory care functions, monitoring and directing staff in day to day operations, and overseeing outpatient respiratory care services, which includes Pulmonary Functions Lab, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, and Home Oxygen/CPAP Clinics.

Some notable awards and professional affiliations include:

  • Supervisor of the Year from the Maryland/District of Columbia Society of Respiratory Care – 2016 and 2017
  • American Lung Association Lung Force Expo Committee
  • Maryland/District of Columbia Board of Directors
  • Extracorporeal Life Support Organization

After participating in the NBRC’s Adult Critical Care Specialty Examination (ACCS) Committee cut score study in 2018, Daniel served as a consultant to the committee in 2019.

We are pleased to welcome Daniel and his considerable knowledge and experience in the respiratory care profession. Welcome to the NBRC Board, Daniel!
