2019 Examinations in Review

The mission of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is to promote excellence in respiratory care by awarding credentials based on high competency standards. Each year the NBRC publishes a summary of results for all six of our credentialing examinations to inform the public, potential candidates, and those currently holding NBRC credentials.

2020 marks the 60th anniversary of the NBRC. We have been defining excellence in respiratory care since 1960 and are proud to have credentialed over 400,000 practitioners during that time.

The link below contains two summaries. The first has 2019 data for examinations administered and credentials awarded, broken down by exam and credential. The second is a pass rate comparison of the last three years, for both new and repeat candidates.

On behalf of the Board and staff at the NBRC, we congratulate each individual who let excellence define them by achieving one or more of our credentials in 2019!
