NBRC donates $200,000
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Oct. 19, 2020) — The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) announced its pledge to donate more than $200,000 designated by credentialed respiratory care practitioners. The funds—which will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Lung Association, and the Allergy & Asthma Network—were raised through the NBRC’s annual give-back initiative, the CHOOSE ONE: Every Breath Counts Campaign.
“With many thanks to the 42,000 respiratory care practitioners who participated this year, we are honored to present these much-needed funds to our 2020 beneficiaries,” said Lori Tinkler, MBA, NBRC Chief Executive Officer. “Together, we share a common goal, and it’s so uplifting to unite around that shared purpose through this campaign.”
The campaign empowers respiratory care practitioners to participate by selecting an organization to receive a portion of their annual credentialing fees. At the end of each term, the NBRC donates the funds accordingly and selects three new beneficiaries for the upcoming year. Recipients for 2021 will be the National Sleep Foundation, the COPD Foundation, and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
The NBRC’s mission is to protect, enhance, and improve the quality of patients’ lives by promoting excellence in respiratory care. In addition to the CHOOSE ONE: Every Breath Counts Campaign, the NBRC helps fund scholarships and research grants and lends knowledge and expertise at forums and events across the country.
“Now more than ever, the world needs more respiratory care heroes,” said Tinkler. “Elevating awareness and giving back are two very important ways we are working to ensure everyone has access to the care they need to breathe easy again, now and for years to come.”
