Live Remote Proctoring To Be Discontinued in 2025

You may recall that the NBRC introduced live remote proctoring in April 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic reverberated globally. Remotely proctored examinations offered a new way to bring more RTs to the bedside to help the fight against COVID-19 while testing centers were shut down.

The introduction of live remote proctoring was crucial in maintaining the continuity of our examination processes in an unprecedented time. Since then, the number of candidates choosing to test remotely have diminished. Despite our efforts to support this mode of testing, we have encountered increasing challenges. Between growing reports of technological issues experienced by candidates and an increase in situations involving candidates violating testing rules and regulations, the NBRC has concluded that remotely proctored exams offer a less than exceptional experience for test-takers.

After careful consideration, the NBRC has decided to discontinue live remote proctoring effective December 31, 2024. Starting January 1, 2025, NBRC examinations must be taken at your preferred PSI testing site. This change aims to provide a more consistent and secure testing environment for all candidates. As always, we remain committed to the NBRC’s model of excellence in respiratory care. Thank you for your continued dedication to the field of respiratory care and for your patience during this transition.
