Amanda Roby, NBRC Board Member

We are happy to introduce Amanda Roby, MHHS, RRT, RRT-SDS, RPSGT, RST, CCSH as a new member of the NBRC Board of Trustees this year.

Engaged to be married, three busy kids in high school, and working towards her Doctor of Health Sciences Ph.D., it may come as no surprise that Amanda has adopted Nike’s ‘Just Do It’ slogan as her motto. She credits her parents for teaching her she could accomplish anything by hard work and dedication and hopes she has instilled the same drive in her children.

Since 2013, Amanda has brought her passion for teaching respiratory therapy to students as Associate Professor and Director of Clinical Education at Youngstown State University. Soon after she started, NBRC Board member Teresa (Terry) Volsko, MBA, MHHS, RRT, CMTE, FAARC, joined the team by stepping into the Program Director position. These two respiratory care professionals forged a strong bond over the years. Terry became her key mentor, truly inspiring her with the amazing things she accomplished while serving on the Board.

Self-described as hard-working, dependable, and energetic, her colleagues have noted that her social personality and cheerfulness make her unique in the higher education work environment. Amanda admits today’s current health climate presents challenges and reinforces ‘outside the box’ thinking to find suitable ways to teach remotely with the tools she has available. However, positive student outcomes continue to keep her motivated as they graduate, move into the workforce, and provide excellent patient care.

Amanda compares the NBRC Board to a ‘Dream Team,’ describing them as true leaders in the respiratory care profession naming education, experience, and passion as a few of their collective talents and motivation.

With her can-do attitude and more than nineteen years in the respiratory and polysomnography fields, and eleven years in higher education, Amanda is a valuable asset to our team. Welcome to the NBRC Board, Amanda!
