Score Report Changes Being Implemented

NBRC Seal

NBRC credentialing examinations are designed to provide an accurate reflection of a candidate’s mastery of necessary knowledge. Since the decision to award a credential is based on the total examination score obtained by a candidate, NBRC is removing sub score reporting on score reports.

Sub scores are being removed from candidate score reports for two key reasons; because credentials are awarded based on the total score achieved by a candidate, and to provide a more accurate reflection of a candidate’s understanding, grasp, and comprehension of necessary knowledge. By reporting only total scores, the candidate has the opportunity to elevate his or her overall knowledge and ability, rather than focusing on what may appear to be weak areas from less accurate sub scores.

The removal of sub scores will occur simultaneously with the implementation of new content for each examination. The table below outlines when each examination’s score report will only display the total score.

As the new Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS) Examination content was implemented in June 2018, score reports for this examination already reflect this change.
