New Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Examination Content Outline Available

On October 10, 2018, the NBRC will implement updated content for the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS) Examination. To allow candidates to properly prepare for the new examination, we have added new items to our website. These items include the Practice Exam and the Detailed Content Outline which are labeled ‘for candidates testing October 10, 2018, and after’.

For candidates testing now through October 9, 2018, the current Practice Exam and Detailed Content Outline are still available.
Currently, to apply for the NPS Examination, you must be either a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) for at least one year prior to applying for the examination or a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

In December 2017, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to remove the admissions provision that allows candidates to apply for the NPS Examination who have held the CRT credential for at least one year. These individuals are currently still eligible to apply for the NPS Examination until June 30, 2018, and can schedule an examination appointment up to 90 days after the application is approved, through October 9, 2018.

Effective October 10, 2018, all applicants must hold the RRT credential to be eligible for the Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Examination.
