NBRC CEO on COVID-19

As a member of the respiratory care community, I wanted to reach out to you personally and let you know your well-being and ability to care for patients is our top priority as we join organizations and companies around the world responding to the current global health challenge. The health and safety of our candidates, credentialed practitioners, and employees is paramount to the NBRC.

We are in constant contact with our testing company, PSI Services LLC, who is updating their website continually with the latest information for scheduling examinations and potential closures to testing facilities. They are expanding their existing cleaning and disinfecting program in all testing locations and providing antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer to help ensure candidates have a safe and healthy experience. Keep up with the latest from PSI here.

For our respiratory therapists who are working the front lines and continuing to provide excellent care for their patients, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have published information, resources, and guidance for healthcare professionals that we strongly encourage you to read and follow. Find them here (WHO) and here (CDC).

Additionally, the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) has created a dedicated space for respiratory therapists to share resources and dialogue about challenges and solutions during this outbreak. We encourage you to join the discussion here.

Our home office employees are following the CDC’s best practices, including frequent handwashing, to keep themselves and others safe. We continue to monitor the situation carefully and will make rational decisions based on the facts presented.

Our hearts go out to all those affected by COVID-19. As a mother and CEO of NBRC, I want you to know that you and your safety are in my daily thoughts. No matter the circumstance, I know each of you will continue to let excellence define you while providing the most exceptional care possible.

Watch for updates from us via NBRC News, email, and our social media channels as we navigate this ever-changing situation.

Sincerely,

Lori M. Tinkler, MBA
